About Us

WREXHAM CRIMELINK

Wrexham Crimelink is an accredited Business Crime Reduction Partnership - a dedicated, formal and pro-active association of retail premises, pubs/clubs/retaurants, and other town-centre service providers. We work in partnership with our town CCTV operatives, North Wales Police, Wrexham County Borough Council and other agencies and organisations. Participants make regular contact and share information about the presence and activities of suspected thieves, persons committing criminal or anti-social acts, truants, missing persons and any other relevant information. This information is normally passed on via a monitored and highly effective open channel radio link scheme which is actively supported by the Town Centre Community Beat Managers and CCTV personnel.

• Wrexham Crimelink has a Co-ordinator who is supported by a Committee representing the key areas of the community.

• The partnership operates within strict protocols (agreed by ACPO and the Office of the Information Commissioner) and is based on successful models in other parts of the United Kingdom.

• The key to the scheme’s success is for businesses to work more effectively by co-operating as partners.

Information Sharing

This scheme focuses on improving communication between businesses, the Police, Community Support Officers, Security staff, CCTV and other key agencies.

• Our radio link provides a constant stream of "real time" information on criminal activity.

• Short weekly meetings provide a forum for exchanging visual images (eg. from in-store CCTV systems) and passing on other non-urgent criminal intelligence.
